In case of bad weather: We will make a call by 4 pm on Friday as to weather class is on. In most cases, the mornings can start of foggy and misty, but then turn to bright sun and warmth during the class. So if it's not pouring, we will most likely go out!
Dress in layers.
Cost Per Class:
$35 (BYOB) Bring your own board & paddle.
$50 (We supply board, paddle & life vest)
* Life vests can be borrowed if needed (Vermont state law requires all paddlers to have a life vest on their board)
Cost does NOT include the $4 park entrance fee- please pay on your way out and help support our State Parks and this amazing natural resource!
** Because we have to close the gate to the park after we get going, please show up on time for class. The gate will close at 8:45. If you arrive late and the gate is closed, just park outside the gate and walk down.
What is SUP-Yoga?
Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) Yoga is an incredible way to take your yoga outside,
on the water, in the beauty and peace of nature, and is the world's fastest growing water sport. SUP-yogis can be found on calm lakes, riding big surf or floating down a winding river. The options are limitless as long as there is water! SUP Yoga classes promote tranquility and inner peace, help build core strength & balance, engender playfulness and fun, and connect us more deeply with our natural world than when we are inside a studio. Let your board become your mat, the water become your friend and the open sky your ceiling as you float your yoga into bliss.
What to expect in this class:
Join us each Saturday by the water’s edge at scenic Waterbury Reservoir for a well-rounded SUP/yoga/nature immersion experience. After gathering our equipment and choosing a board (or bring your own) we’ll spend a few minutes on the shoreline going over basic techniques, helpful hints, and safety guidelines. We'll also do some simple ritual to acknowledge and celebrate the seasonal shifts and where we are on the wheel of the year, as well as to bond as a group. We will then warm up by paddling our boards free-from and getting used to sitting, kneeling or standing on the board. For the next full hour, you will be guided through a fun, playful, well-balanced SUP Yoga class designed for all-levels, and end with a peaceful floating Savasana and/or guided meditation to round out practice. When we take our practice to the SUP, you can enjoy all the elements of a great yoga class with the layered benefit of being out in nature, breathing fresh morning air, soaking in the sunshine and connecting deeply to the elements. Leave class feeling renewed, refreshed, calm, clear and ready to start your weekend!
Bathing suit, layers that you don’t mind getting wet, sun hat, sun block, water bottle, and snacks. Feel free to stay and play at the reservoir after class. Waterbury Reservoir opens to the public at 10am. Can't wait to see you on the water!!
